'A Year in my Garden'
Not really a diary but a month-by-month (September to August) report of Jacqueline’s work in her own garden, ‘De Theetuin’ in Weesp, The Netherlands. Included also are trips to other projects Jacqueline has worked on, in The Netherlands and abroad . Besides that each chapter includes a repeating item like ‘favourite plants’ and a photo spread showing a particular view in the garden over 12 months: a technique to illustrate the importance of seasonal interest.
REVIEWS ‘A year in my garden’:
By Annie Guilfoyle, garden designer and lecturer:
‘An engaging book that guides us through a year in designer Van der Kloet’s Dutch garden, jam-packed with take-away knowledge. I feel as I have been led through the garden and learned everything about it, warts and all’.
By Barbara Jacobs, starred review in Booklist:
‘This is an elegant, extraordinarily photogenic look at the gardens of well-known Netherlands-based landscaper-author Van der Kloet. Sharing photos and stories of both her own gardens and those of clients Van der Kloet goes through the year month by month. The glorious color photographs outnumber the carefully chosen words.’
